The text string in an AnchorTag that is visible within a web browser.

The following is an example of an AnchorTag:

<a href="http://www.searchenginecollege.com">Search Engine College Courses</a>


The Anchor Text in the above example is the text string "Search Engine College Courses". If you were viewing the HTML code above in an HTML page (as opposed to this .php wiki page, you would only see the words Search Engine College Courses and not the full code.

SearchEngineAlgorithms often consider the anchor text associated with a link in determining the relevancy of the linked to page in relation to search queries.
